Intel Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X Details Leaked - New LGA 2066 Socket?



It's only been a month since Intel announced its 10-core Broadwell-E LGA 2011-v3 CPU and there's already something new again from Intel. According to the recent updates from Intel, the company will have a new naming scheme for its upcoming CPUs and next generation CPU will be named as Skylake-X and Kabylake-X instead of Skylake-E and will be making its debut later in 2016 Q3.

Both Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X is part of Intel's upcoming Basin Falls X-series Platform that is set to debut in 2017 Q2 will have a significant change on its specifications, with LGA 2066.socket as the most significant changes after years of having 2011 socket. While Kaby Lake-X SKUs is part of Intel's X-series family, it will only support up to dual-channel DDR4 memory, quad-core only and up to 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes at most. Skylake-X SKUs on the other hand, offers 6-core (28 PCIe 3.0 lanes) and 10-core ( 44 PCIe 3.0 lanes) model.
Other than Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X, there will be upcoming Kaby Lake-S will be a LGA 1151 socket CPU with Intel's Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, 95W TDP, Kaby Lake PCH-H chipset support.
