NVIDIA is powering the GeForce eSports Xtreme Tournament (GEXT) in Southeast Asia again this year with US$75,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
This time round, thousands of gamers will battle for supremacy in Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA 2) where two five-player teams fight to destroy the other’s Ancient building located within the opposing stronghold; and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a multiplayer first-person shooter video game.
Organised by NVIDIA, GEXT will take place in GeForce Certified iCafes featuring gaming PCs driven by NVIDIA GeForce GPUs in five countries – Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The tournament aims to grow the gaming community in the region by creating more accessible opportunities for amateur gamers. It will be streamed live to allow gamers and eSports enthusiasts around the world to follow the development online.
The first match will kick off in the Philippines on June 16. They will be followed by tournaments in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Besides bragging rights as country champions, the national winners will get to compete with the region’s best in the GEXT Regional Grand Finals at the end of this year.
GEXT is supported by gold sponsors Colorful, Coolermaster and Palit and silver sponsors Galax, MSI, Thermaltake, and TTesports.
“The gaming community in Southeast Asia is among the fastest growing in the world. NVIDIA is delighted to do our part to give gamers better gaming experience with our award-winning GeForce GPUs which are used by thousands of iCafes around the region and millions of gamers at home,” said Simon Tan, director, consumer business, APAC South, NVIDIA.
