Computex 2017: Kingston HyperX Showcases Alloy Elite RGB Mechanical Keyboard and PulseFire FPS Gaming Mouse

In this year's Computex, Kingston HyperX showcases its upcoming gaming peripherals specially tailored for FPS gamers, the HyperX Alloy Elite RGB mechanical keyboard and HyperX PulseFire FPS gaming mouse.

HyperX PulseFire FPS

HyperX has teamed up with professional gamers, gathered their feedback and requirements to create a gaming mouse that is truly meant for FPS games. Thus, the HyperX PulseFire FPS is created.

The PulseFire FPS features a lightweight design, weighing a mere 95g, for swift action, comfortable right-handed ergonomics with slip resistant grips and a pair of extra large mouse skates to ensure that FPS gamers are able to perform at their peak performance in each play.

It also features the PixArt PWM 3310 optical sensor (identical to the renowned Avago 3310 optical sensor), adjustable DPI at the range of 400 to 3200, and the widely used D2FC-F-7N Omron switch for the best control and responsiveness needed in every action.

HyperX Alloy Elite RGB

Up next is the HyperX Alloy Elite RGB, the latest mechanical keyboard from HyperX that is made for all type of gamers. Like most RGB mechanical keyboards out there, the Alloy Elite RGB is capable of 16M colors, USB pass-through design,  as well as the NKRO feature to meet the current market's demand.

Instead of going for the lower cost Cherry MX alternatives, HyperX decided stick with the original Cherry MX switches to ensure the best quality and experience are delivered to the end users.

Instead of having the function keys row (F1 to F12) for media controls, the Alloy Elite RGB features a set of dedicated media keys for easier control of media playback.

It also comes with set of Gunmetal Textured keycaps for gamers to easily identify the commonly pressed clusters with the sense of touch.

The included detachable wrist rest has a pretty good angle to provide extra comfort for long hours of usage, which is actually an added plus to the keyboard itself.

Unboxing & Review: Kingston HyperX CloudX Pro Gaming Headset

Kingston has done a great job with its HyperX Cloud headsets in the past, well priced and accompanied with a very decent sound quality that makes it well received among the enthusiasts and it's definitely one of the very best gaming headsets that are worth the money. 

In its attempt to penetrate the console market, Kingston has released a special edition of its HyperX Cloud headset that is specially designed for Microsoft's XBox One and it's been tested and approved by the company itself. Same award winning design with a twist, let's see how will the HyperX CloudX perform!

Unlike any HyperX Cloud headset we've seen previously, the CloudX box has a green lining on the upper section of the box which clearly states that it's made for Microsoft's Xbox One and Windows. 

On the right side of the box, you'll find features such as hard shell carrying case, interchangeable ear cups, 2m extension cables, detachable microphone and notice of free technical support as well as limited 2-years warranty.

Behind the box, you'll find a well-labelled diagram of the HyperX CloudX, its compatibility, 

and its features. 

Kingston takes its packaging seriously and we can see that through their effort with the packaging and accessories. Here's what you'll get in the box; quicks start guide, interchangeable ear cups, 2m extender cables, detachable microphone, hard shell carrying case and the HyperX CloudX Pro Gaming Headset.

The hard shell carrying case is an added bonus which you won't be getting from any HyperX Cloud headset except for the CloudX. It provides that extra protection and portability, fit pretty much everything in it, definitely a wonderful piece of accessories to have. 

The HyperX CloudX are pretty much identical to all the previous HyperX Cloud headsets, except that they've added a little bit of twist to it; striped cable and the in-line volume wheel and mic control.

It' comes with a standard 3.5mm audio jacks that are compatible with most devices, not limited only for the Xbox One. The volume wheel and mic control that makes volume adjustment at ease is definitely an added plus to the headset itself, especially one for console gamers who is constantly holding onto the controller. 

The padded headband is basically the same as the previous Cloud headsets, thick, but comfortable.

On the top of the headband, you'll find the stitching of the HyperX logo did very well to add to the aesthetics; which is accompanied by more stitching along the rim.

The same adjustable extension provided by the metal support stays the same, but do be cautious if you're among those who has a larger sized cranial as you might want to give the headset a fit try before purchasing.

You'll get a pair of interchangeable ear cups, in case if you find the pleather ear cups hot or over isolating the noise and wanted to have a more breathable environment for your ear and not to get over-isolated from the outside world in case something happens. 

The rubber cover for the microphone jack is just as same as all the previous HyperX Cloud headset, it's small... so, try not to lose it.  

User Experience 

The HyperX CloudX offers the same features as other HyperX Cloud headsets from the past, guaranteed extra comfort for long hours usage without applying too much pressure on the top of your head, decent noise isolation with a minimal sound leakage. The in-line volume control definitely comes in handy while adjusting volume during FPS games as unlike PC gamers who can still protect themselves with their gaming mouse while adjusting volume, something that cannot be achieved with a controller.   

Sound quality wise, the HyperX CloudX still works the best with FPS games as the footsteps of the enemy, direction of explosions and gunshots can be clearly heard during our Call of Duty: Advance Warfare gaming session. If you're more of a person who enjoys music and movies more than games, the HyperX CloudX will still fit the role just as well regardless of the devices you're on and the hard shell carrying case offers that extra protection for those who travels with their HyperX CloudX.

Verdict

The HyperX CloudX definitely live up to the legacy of the HyperX Cloud headset, decent sound quality and build quality, the comfort and ease of use, everything that we've expected can be found on the HyperX CloudX. 

The price might be a little high compared to the past HyperX Cloud, Cloud II, and Cloud Core, but for RM 419, you're getting something extra that isn't available on the other Clouds, hard shell carry case and in-line volume and mic control - something that we personally find, worth of spending that extra bit on cash on.

Unboxing & Review: HyperX Cloud Revolver Pro Gaming Headset

Many were surprised by HyperX when it decided to step into the gaming peripherals market with its first HyperX Cloud gaming headset which turns out to be a very good gaming headset that is actually worth paying for. The HyperX Cloud II did an even better job and it is one of our favorite gaming headset of all time. The only issue that has been stopping some users from getting the HyperX Cloud II is the not-so-fancy-looking factor and in response to that, HyperX has stepped up the game with its new HyperX Cloud Revolver.

The Cloud Revolver comes in a red and black themed box with the actual headset displayed at the front along with some features and branding. You'll also find the red lining on the upper section of the box which clearly stating that the Cloud Revolver is compatible with the PC, PS4, Mac and mobile devices.

Behind the box, you'll find a well-labelled diagram of the HyperX Cloud Revolver, notice on free technical support and a limited 2-year warranty coverage from Kingston Technology.

The packaging is fancy as usual, you'll get pretty much everything as shown above except for the headphone stand, which is ours from the very beginning. A quick starter guide, an audio control box with 3.5mm stereo and mic jacks, a flexible detachable noise cancellation mic and the Could Revolver Pro Gaming Headset.

The design of the HyperX Cloud Revolver looks nothing like any HyperX Cloud headset we've seen in the past and it does remind us of the SteelSeries Siberia we used to have.

The headband is heavily padded for extra comfort. 

Instead of having to manually adjust the headset to fit onto your head, HyperX went for a flexibly suspended headband design that automatically fit according to the shape of your head. 

You'll find a rather stylish looking HyperX logo imprinted onto the leather of the headband, additional points to aesthetics!

While it doesn't actually light up as we hope that it would, the earcups of the Cloud Revolver has a much distinctive look of a gaming headset compared to the much traditional look of the previous Cloud headset that is done by QPAD.  

The faux leather covered earcups cushion feature the signature HyperX memory foam, it's soft and comfortable, and supposed to keep sound leakage to the minimum. It's removable as well, for the ease of cleaning and replacement should the need arise. 

Unlike the previous HyperX Cloud headset, the Cloud Revolver doesn't come with any rubber cover to hide the microphone port, leaving it exposed. 

Testing
The HyperX Cloud Revolver has a lightweight construction and leather padded headband that is supposed to give extra comfort for long hours usage without applying too much pressure on the top of your head. The flexible suspended headband design makes life easier as it will automatically fit onto your head without any manual adjustments like any of the previous HyperX Cloud headset. The earcups are bigger and more comfortable than the HyperX Cloud II, but the noise isolation isn't as good and noise from your surround are actually audible due to the metal frame. However, those of you with big head might be facing some comfort issue as it seems to be applying a little more extra pressure on the top of your head if the headband is touching against the metal frame itself.

Sound quality wise, the HyperX Cloud Revolver works the best with FPS games as the footsteps of the enemy, direction of explosions and gunshots can be clearly throughout our gaming session with few of the selected titles such as Battlefield Hardline, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. If you're more of a person who enjoys music and movies more than games, the HyperX Cloud Revolver fits the role just as well regardless of the devices you're on. The significant difference between the Cloud Revolver and Cloud II when it comes to the sound quality are the vocals / speech for both gaming and any activity that involves talking to the microphone itself as the Cloud Revolver sounds better.

Conclusion
The HyperX Cloud II is known to be one of the very few gaming headsets that are able to deliver the sound quality that is worth paying that amount of money for instead of the just gimmicks and empty promises. As some still prefer a fancy looking headset compared to the seems to be traditional headset design on the HyperX Cloud II, what's left for the HyperX Cloud II is the looks and it's clear that HyperX intended to cause a storm with its HyperX Cloud Revolver that is able to perform near to the HyperX Cloud II when it comes to the sound quality but with better aesthetics. 

There are of course downside of it, as you're paying RM439 for the HyperX Cloud Revolver, an extra RM40 compared to the HyperX Cloud II which priced at RM399 but delivers a better audio quality and it comes with an extra USB 7.1 soundcard. The HyperX Cloud II is undoubtedly still a better value gaming headset, but if both looks and quality matters to you more, the HyperX Cloud Revolver isn't bad either as you won't be seeing much gaming headset that looks good and performs as it does.

Here's the HyperX Cloud and Cloud II gaming headset, Kingston's successful attempt to give the end user something that is not related to memory, but gaming. We've tested the HyperX Cloud II personally and that's an outstanding performance that worth a thousand praise. 

Surprised? That's a gaming mouse pad from Kingston alright, the HyperX Skyn, It's super thin and it did somehow reminded us the ROCCAT Siru.

Don't like thin mouse pad, there's the HyperX Fury gaming mouse pad.

A stunning performance from the renown 羅小白, it's our first time seeing her performance LIVE. This is definitely something we've never experienced before from any other vendors, not only that we get to experience some of the new products from Kingston but also an enjoyable live performance, that's a 'kill two birds with one stone'.
